Congratulations to our CMB graduate, Dr. Nick So for being awarded the the Otto Hahn Medal and the Otto Hahn Award from the Max Planck Society

Dr. Nick So received his Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with first class honor from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016. Afterwards, he was awarded the Croucher Scholarship for Doctoral Study to pursue his doctoral research on egg cell biology under Dr. Melina Schuh. In 2019, Nick received his Dr. rer. nat. in Biology with summa cum laude from the Unviersity of Goettingen. Currently, he is supported by the Max Planck Croucher Postdoctoral Fellowship to develop new model systems for studying different stages of female germline development, jointly under Dr. Melina Schuh and Dr. Ufuk Günesdogan.

More recently, Nick has been awarded the Otto Hahn Medal and the Otto Hahn Award from the Max Planck Society for “ground-breaking discoveries on the mechanism and machinery underlying chromosome segregation during mammalian egg cell development." With the Otto Hahn Award, Nick will be able to setup his own research group at any Max Planck Institute of choice for up to 5 years.

Congratulations to Nick, again!
