Young Scientist Mentorship And Research Training (SMART) Programme

 

Young Scientist Mentorship And Research Training (SMART) Program offers a distinguished research experience to talented and outstanding first year’s students. Through individual guidance from Professors in research laboratory, students are able to ignite their inquisitiveness in scientific research at the very beginning of their University Journey.

Eligibility

For old-curriculum students:

  • Year 1 Life Sciences students who are admitted via JUPAS/Non-JUPAS with 1A1C, or 2B in two AL Science subjects, or point 5 in two IB science subjects

OR

  • Year 1 Life Science students with major GPA 3.5 or above in the first term (i.e. Cumulative GPA of BCHE2030 + BIOL2120 + LSCI2000 + LSCI2002)

Eligible students can claim up to a maximum stipend of HK$5,000 (HK$50/hour).

For 334 new-curriculum students:

  •   Declared major in BCHE or BIOL or CMBI or ENSC or FNSC or MBTE  

AND

  • Overall GPA 3.50 or above (which must include LSCI1002, and two other Faculty Package courses applicable to Life Sciences)   

Eligible students must conduct the training before their third year of studies.  They can claim up to a maximum stipend of HK$3,000 (HK$50/hour)
