Cell and Molecular Biology Programme, School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

History

CMBI was established in 2008 by its Founding Director, Professor Wei GE. Recognising the growing importance of molecular and cellular approaches in modern biological research, Professor GE envisioned a programme that would integrate expertise from different disciplines within the life sciences and provide specialised training in cell and molecular biology.

As the first undergraduate programme in the School of Life Sciences to focus specifically on this rapidly expanding field, CMBI brought together faculty members with diverse research backgrounds and attracted talented students with strong interests in biomedical and life science research. Since its inception, the programme has developed a reputation for academic excellence, with its graduates receiving numerous awards, scholarships and offers for postgraduate study at leading universities around the world.
